Un pays de barbelés - Dans les camps des réfugiés espagnols en France, 1939, Vladimir Pozner
(Part of Catherine Millet’s theme: History)

At the end of the Spanish Civil War, the anti-Francoists fled to the French-Spanish border... In March 1939, the writer, journalist and anti-fascist activist Vladimir Pozner (1905-1992) arrived in Perpignan. Commissioned by the Committee for the Reception of Spanish Intellectuals, he was about to travel through the region (Ariège, Aude, Pyrénées-Orientales) for two months in order to get the intellectuals interned there out of the camps hastily set up by the French administration.

Notes taken in the field, letters, testimonies, press clippings, postcards and photographs - all documents of the period preserved by the writer - constitute the material of this unpublished book, in the form of a documentary puzzle.
